Problem Solving DistrictS
The Troutdale Police Department is committed to strengthening community policing by making individual neighborhoods more crime resistant. As you know, crime and livability issues have a great impact on the citizens of the City of Troutdale and its daily visitors.
In August 2010 the department created two “Problem Solving Districts”, a strategy that supports and encourages neighborhood organizing efforts to make a community safer. Emphasis will be placed on a proactive and preventative approach to engage with community members and service providers.
Even though Sergeants and Officers identify crime and livability issues in the City as a whole, they also solve livability and crime issues within a specific geographical area as part of a district team, led by an assigned Sergeant.
When it comes to identifying and solving problems, smaller is better!
Through neighborhood meetings, advisory groups, telephone surveys, formal and informal visits with residents and business people, officers and civilian staff will assist with the development of crime prevention efforts such as neighborhood watch in these areas.
